The latest Google Doodle marks the kickoff of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, hosted by India. This edition, the 13th since its inception in 1975, features ten national teams competing for the coveted championship.

In the group stage, 45 matches will unfold as each team encounters the others once. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka form the lineup.

The knockout stage awaits only four teams, leading to two semi-final clashes and a grand cup final in Ahmedabad. The tournament spans multiple Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow, Dharamsala, and Pune.

Today’s inaugural match showcases a face-off between England, the returning champions from 2019, and New Zealand, the runners-up, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
