Discover the surprising custody battle between Danny Masterson and estranged wife Bijou Phillips following his prison sentencing. Get the latest details on their legal drama.
Danny Masterson has formally requested that a judge award full custody of his 9-year-old daughter, Fianna, to his estranged wife, Bijou Phillips, who recently filed for divorce from the former “That ’70s Show” star.
The legal documents, filed on October 19 in Santa Barbara Superior Court and obtained by USA TODAY, outline Masterson’s request for Phillips, aged 43, to be granted both legal and physical custody of Fianna, with visitation rights for himself.
This request follows Masterson’s sentencing on September 7 to 30 years to life in prison for the rape of two women. In response, Phillips, in a petition signed on September 15, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending their 11-year marriage. She sought spousal support, the restoration of her name to Bijou Phillips, and full legal and physical custody of their daughter, with Masterson receiving child visitation rights.
A case management conference with a judge is scheduled for November 22. Throughout Masterson’s legal trials, Phillips had supported him, but her recent divorce filing signifies a significant change in their relationship.
