Sophie Turner’s legal team asserts that she and Joe Jonas had agreed to make England their permanent residence during conversations that occurred in Christmas 2022, as they prepared for the year ahead.
In a recent lawsuit filed in a Manhattan court, Sophie Turner, 27, the former Game of Thrones actress, is seeking the return of her two children, Willa, 3, and her 14-month-old daughter identified as D. in previous court documents, to England.
The complaint, directed towards her estranged husband Joe Jonas, requests the immediate return of the children, citing wrongful removal or retention, which allegedly began on September 20.
Turner’s legal team asserts that she and Joe Jonas, 34, had agreed to make England their permanent residence during conversations that occurred in Christmas 2022, as they prepared for the year ahead.
They reportedly sold their Miami home and were in the process of buying a property in the English countryside in April, coinciding with Turner’s work on a Joan mini-series during the summer.
Initially, it’s claimed that they agreed to let the children join Jonas on tour with The Jonas Brothers since he had more available daytime hours for them while Turner was filming. However, Turner alleges that their marriage broke down suddenly after an argument on August 15, with Jonas filing for divorce on September 5, and Turner learning about the split through media reports.
The custody dispute escalated when they met two weeks later to discuss their next steps post-split, during which Turner reiterated her plan to move to England.
According to the documents, Joe Jonas has possession of the children’s passports and refuses to return them to Turner, along with withholding consent for their relocation to England.
The couple married in 2019 after nearly three years of dating, and at the time of their separation, they both issued a joint statement on their social media accounts regarding the end of their four-year marriage.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” they both posted on instagram.
