AR Rahman’s recent concert in Chennai, held on September 10th, has faced significant backlash from fans due to what they perceive as subpar organization. Attendees of the music maestro’s performance shared their discontent on social media platform X, recounting what they described as ‘peculiar’ incidents.
Numerous concertgoers turned to social media to voice their displeasure, citing various concerns. They raised issues such as the low audio volume, which rendered the performance nearly inaudible for those situated farther from the stage.
Additionally, the overcrowding at the event resulted in panic attacks and anxiety among the audience, prompting many devoted fans to pledge never to attend another AR Rahman concert.

Reports surfaced of ticket holders being barred from entering the venue, with some fans resorting to tearing up their prized tickets in sheer frustration. The concert triggered a massive traffic jam, with fans decrying organizers for selling tickets far beyond the venue’s capacity.
Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared a heart-wrenching video of a disillusioned fan tearing apart their concert tickets, labeling it an “unforgettable disaster” and the “worst gift” from AR Rahman.
The discontent grew to such proportions that the hashtag #ARRConcert stormed social media, as attendees poured out their grievances about the event. Reports also trickled in about skirmishes and chaotic scenes erupting during the concert.
One disillusioned fan lambasted the concert’s organization, deeming it “poorly managed” and a “waste of money and energy.” She recounted feeling stressed due to fights and disruptions at the event, alongside the subpar sound quality.
An attendee who had shelled out for Gold tickets shared their exasperation, revealing that they couldn’t ‘experience the show’ due to ‘overcrowding’ and ‘limited space,’ raising suspicions that tickets were oversold. Furthermore, they demanded a refund.

After this incident, AR Rahman tweeted, “Dearest Chennai Makkale, those of you who purchased tickets and weren’t able to enter owing to unfortunate circumstances, please do share a copy of your ticket purchase to [email protected] along with your grievances. Our team will respond asap @BToSproductions @actcevents”.
