Popular Singer and actor Olivia Newton-John has died at her home in southern california at the age of 73. She was a four time Grammy award winner. John Travolta expressed condolences on the death of his co-star in “Grease”.
Singer and actor Olivia Newton-John, who was popularly known for her hits “I Honestly Love You” and “Physical”, dies at her home in southern california. She was 73.
A four time Grammy winner also starred in popular musical film “Grease” in 1978. She had revealed several years ago that breast cancer had metastasized and spread to her back.
Olivia’s husband John Easterling announced her death news on her instagram and facebook account. He wrote, “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation,” he added.
“Olivia is survived by her husband John Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall,” he wrote further in a post.

Olivia Newton-John was born on September 26, 1948 in the UK and brought up in Australia. She started her career at a very little age and released her first solo album “If Not for You” in 1971, the title track written by Bob Dylan.
Olivia’s role of Sandy in “Grease” got a lot of recognition. Her two major hit duets with co-star John Travolta were “You’re The One That I Want” and “Summer Nights”. John Travolta expressed his condolences over the death of his co-star.
“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!
Your Danny, your John!,” John Travolta wrote.

Olivia Newton-John won her first Grammy award for “Let Me Be There” (1971) for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. She also won Grammy for “I Honestly Love You” (1974) for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her song “Physical” (1982) won Grammy for Video of the Year.
Olivia’s other major hits include “If Not for You”, “If You Love Me (Let Me Know)”, “Have You Never Been Mellow”, “Sam”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You” (Grease), “A Little More Love”, “Xanadu” and “Magic”.
Olivia Newton-John was an activist for environmental and animal rights causes, and advocated for breast cancer research.
She married to Matt Lattanzi in 1984 and broke up in 1995. Olivia’s only daughter Chloe Lattanzi was born from this marriage. She married again to businessman John Easterling in 2008.
