Odia film actor and jatra artiste Raimohan Parida found hanging at his residence Prachi Vihar area of Bhubaneswar. He was 58.
The Odia film industry has shocked with his sudden demise. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Raimohan Parida was born on July 10, 1963 in Keonjhar district. He completed his graduation from Karanjia college in Mayurbhanj district and then enrolled in Utal Sangeeta Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar from where he learnt drama.
He was famous for playing negative roles in the movies. He acted in more than 100 odia films and 15 bengali movies alongwith 40-odd Jatra shows.
After hearing the news of Parida’s death, actor and former MP Siddhanth Mahapatra said it is hard to believe an ever-smiling actor, who has seen several ups and downs in life, can think of taking such a harsh step.
“He was quite successful and money can’t be the reason of his death. A thorough investigation is needed,” he said.
Mahapatra said he had met Raimohan and his family last week at a function and the latter did not seem to be depressed. “He was his usual jovial self. What drove him to do something like this needs to be investigated,” Mahapatra added.
Raimohan Parida made his debut in 1986 with the movie ‘Paka Kambal Pot Chhata’ but he earned his first recognition in the movie ‘Sagar’ (1987) in which he played a negative role.
He also won several awards for his performances in the movies like ‘Suna Bhauja’ (1994), ‘Singha Bahini’ (1998) and ‘Mental’ (2014).
