Shani Dev, the lord of Justice and Karma, is worshipped on Shani Jayanti. It falls on Krishna Paksha Amavasaya tithi in the month of Jayeshtha. This year, it falls on March 30, 2022 (Monday). Hindus worship Lord Shani with full of devotion on this day. Shani Jayanti is also known as Shani Amavasaya.

Shani Jayanti 2022:- Story

Shani Dev is the son of Suryadev (Lord Sun) and mother Swarna (Chhaya). It is believed that mother Chhaya penanced Lord Shiva with full of devotion when Shani Dev was in her womb. Lord Shiva pleased by the dedication and devotion of Chhaya and blessed her Shani Dev with divine powers. According to Hindu scriptures, Chhaya penanced Lord Shiva under hot and scorching sun due to which Shani’s complexion turned black.

According to Hindu mythology, Raavana arrested Shani Dev and sent him to his prison. Lord Hanuman freed Shani from the prison. Shani Dev got impressed from Hanuman and said that whosoever will worship Lord Hanuman, will not face any difficulty during the period of Dasha, Mahadasha and Saadhe Saati. That’s why, people also chant Hanuman Chalisa on Shani Jayanti.

Hindus observe fast the whole day and visit Shani temple to seek the blessings of Shani Dev. It is considered that person should worship Shani Dev to perform well in any work otherwise person can’t achieve success even by doing hard work.

Shani Dev is considered to be the ruler of Karma. It is believed that Shani Dev does justice with the human beings on the basis of their deeds and acts i.e., Karma.

People wake up early in the morning and observe fast for the whole day. This day is also considered auspicious to perform Hawan. Before doing puja, people clean the place of worship and the idol of deity. In order to get relief from malefic effects of Saturn, people recite Shani path and seek the blessings of Shani Dev.
