Communal clashes break out in Jodhpur; curfew imposed in several areas

On tuesday morning, clash erupted once again after Eid prayers in the Jalori Gate area of Jodhpur. Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that this incident is unfortunate and the offender should not be spared.

Communal clashes broke out in the Jodhpur city of Rajasthan on Eid over hoisting of a religious flag in the Jalori Gate area. Clash was erupted on monday night as well when two communities started pelting stones on each other. Police fired tear-gas shells to disperse the crowd. During this clash, five police officials were injured.

On tuesday morning, clash erupted once again after Eid prayers in the Jalori Gate area of Jodhpur. Aftermath, curfew has been imposed in several places of Rajasthan and internet services have also been suspended to stop people from spreading rumours.

CM Ashok Gehlot said Jodhpur clash is unfortunate

Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that this incident is unfortunate and the offender should not be spared.

“The incident in Jodhpur is unfortunate, any incident affecting the communal harmony anywhere in the state damages the peace and law and order in the society. The offender, irrespective of religion, caste or class, should not be spared if he is found to be involved in a crime,” Ashok Gehlot tweeted.

In further tweet he appealed the general public to maintain peace. “People of all societies and religions in Rajasthan have been celebrating all festivals with love and brotherhood and especially Jodhpur is known for its adoption. This tradition should continue. I appeal to the general public to maintain peace,” Ashok Gehlot tweeted.

Chief minister held a high-level review of the incident and directed the police and administration to take necessary steps to maintain peace and order.

Home minister of State Shri Rajendra Singh Yadav, Minister in-charge of Jodhpur Shri Subhash Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri Abhay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Shri Hawasingh Ghumaria have been instructed by CM Gehlot to immediately go to Jodhpur by helicopter.
