So, it is also known as the festival of Goddess Saraswati, who is the Goddess of knowledge, wisdom, music, art and science.
Basant Panchami marks the beginning of spring season, which is the king of all seasons. Winter season ends and summer season begins on Basant Panchami. Yellow colour has the great significance on this day. People wear yellow dresses and make traditional yellow dishes.
People fly kites on this day especially in Punjab and Haryana. In West Bengal, this festival is celebrated as Saraswati Puja. Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami is also known as Shri Panchami.
