Vaishno Devi stampede:- 12 dead and 14 injured at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in J&K

A stampede at Vaishno Devi shrine occurred around 2:30 am on saturday as number of devotees have come to pay obeisance in the shrine on new year. Atleast 12 dead and 14 injured in this incident.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh would be given to deceased families who lost their family member and Rs. 50,000 to injured persons from PMNRF

A massive stampede occurred at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on saturday morning. 12 devotees dead and 14 injured in this stampede. According to initial information, a minor altercation among some young boys led to the stampede at shrine.

This all incident happened around 2:30 am on saturday as number of devotees have come to pay obeisance in the shrine on new year but unfortunately it turned into stampede. The injured in this incident have been taken to hospital immediately.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered high-level probe into this incident. He shared helpline numbers of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine board.

 An ex-gratia of an amount Rs. 2 lakh would be given from the Prime minister’s National relief fund to the families of deceased who lost their lives in the stempede at Mata Vaishno Devi and Rs. 50 thousand would be given to the injured persons.

 LG Jammu and Kashmir spoke to Hon’ble Home minister Shri Amit Shah Ji. Briefed him about the incident. A high level inquiry has been ordered into today’s stempede.
