India vs New Zealand 2nd Test:- India demolishes New Zealand by 372 runs, clinches the series 1-0

India beat New Zealand by record 372 runs in the 2nd test to win the series 1-0. Mayank Agarwal becomes the player of the match, who scored 150 in 1st innings and 62 in the 2nd innings while Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the player of the series.

India beat New Zealand by record 372 runs in the 2nd test in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. With this win, India clinches the two test matches series by 1-0. Mayank Agarwal becomes the player of the match, who scored 150 in 1st innings and 62 in the 2nd innings while Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the player of the series.

First test match between both the teams was very close as India couldn’t take the last wicket of New Zealand and Black Caps’s Rachin Ravindra played well and saved the last wicket. As a result, first test match remained draw. But in the second test, India didn’t give any chance Kiwis to win. India was dominant during the whole match.

In the 1st innings, India scored 325 with the help of Mayank Agarwal (150) and Axar Patel (52). New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel took all the 10 wickets of India in the first innings and becomes the third player to do this rarest feat after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.

New Zealand couldn’t score well and team got all-out by making just 62 runs in the first innings. Then, match completely turned in the hands of India.

In the second innings, India scored 276/7 with the help of opener Mayank Agarwal (62). The left arm spinner Ajaz Patel took 4 wickets in the second innings and this time Rachin Ravindra also support him by taking 3 wickets. In the second test, Ajaz Patel took total 14 wickets by giving 225 runs in 73.5 overs.

Now, New Zealand had to achieve the target of 540 runs to win but New Zealand’s batters again couldn’t score well except Daryl Mitchell (60) and Henry Nichollas (44). New Zealand got all-out at 167 and match finished on the morning of 4th day. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav both took 4-4 wickets in the second innings.

The 372-run win is team India’s biggest win by runs in test cricket. Under the coaching of Rahul Dravid, this is India’s first win in the test cricket. Captain Virat Kohli becomes the first player with 50 international wins in each format of the game.

Before the two matches test series, there was a three matches T20 series between both the teams, which was won by team India 3-0. This is team India’s 14th consecutive test series win at home.

Now, India will go to South Africa to play the test match which is two or three weeks away. Although there is a suspense on India’s tour of South Africa as omicron variant has been found there and cases of this variant are regularly increasing.
