Bill gates always remain in news for his wealth and his philanthropy works but this time he is in news for his divorce with Melinda gates. Co-founder of Microsoft Bill gates and his wife Melinda gates are getting divorce after 27 years of marriage. They both have tweeted about this on may 4, monday. Bill gates is the fourth wealthiest person in the world.
Bill gates was dropped out of the Harvard university for starting microsoft company. He started microsoft in the year 1975. In the year 1986, he owned 49% share of the company through initial public offerings. Company started growing and in very little time, he became multimillionaire. He stepped down as CEO of the company in 2000, because he wanted to focus on philanthropy work.
Bill and Melinda gates met in 1980 when Melinda gates joined microsoft. They dated a few years before getting married in 1994 in Hawaii. They both started Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGH) in the year 2000. This foundation’s main focus was to enhance healthcare and welfare of the globe.
In the divorce statement, they both said that they will continue to work for their foundation. They also posted on tweet, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”

Bill and Melinda gates foundation is the world’s largest private charity foundation. There are three trustees of this foundation. Bill gates, Melinda gates and Warren buffett who is the best friend of both of them. This foundation has also spent a lot of money for the treatment of Covid-19 pandemic. It spent on tests, medicines and vaccines.
Melinda French Gates has recently added her maiden name on most of her websites and social media. She was raised at Dallas and studied computer science and economics in Duke university before joining microsoft.
This is the second ever biggest divorce in the world. Recently in 2019, there was a big divorce of Jeff bezos and Mackenzie scott after which Mackenzie had come in the list of richest woman.
