Recent reports indicate that Edebiri is being considered for the role of Anne, a character inspired by the real-life pirate Anne Bonny. The upcoming installment, Pirates 6, is poised to take a fresh approach, putting a spotlight on a younger generation of pirates embarking on an adventure in search of hidden treasures, offering a unique, female-centric perspective.
Originally, Disney had set sail towards two Pirates of the Caribbean reboots, one of which boasted a formidable female cast led by Margot Robbie. However, in a surprising turn of events in 2022, Robbie disclosed that Disney had decided to abandon the envisioned storyline.
Despite this revelation, producer Jerry Bruckheimer remains resolute in his belief that the project holds immense potential and assures that Pirates 6 is very much alive.
Ayo Edebiri’s potential inclusion in the Pirates franchise comes on the heels of her success in The Bear, a comedy-drama that earned her both a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy this year. Additionally, Edebiri has lent her voice to various projects, including Big Mouth, Clone High, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
