Google celebrates the beginning of Winter Olympics 2022 with an adorable doodle. The doodle features six animals playing different games. Those games are expected to be seen in the winter olympics. There is a snowboarding leopard, a curling mouse, a fox playing ice hockey, an ice dancing rabbit and a wings-flapping duck on skis.
With a single click on the google doodle, all the still animals move into action and start playing. After a second Click, Google takes to ‘Winter Olympics’ query, where the full schedule of the games is available. “Winter Games 2022 begin!,” Google wrote in the context of this doodle.
The Winter Olympic games are held once in a four years. Winter Olympics 2022 is scheduled to be held in Beijing, China. The opening ceremony of the games will take place on February 4, 2022 at the Beijing National Stadium. The games will continue for 16 days and the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics will take place on February 20, 2022.
India has only one athlete, skier Arif Mohammad Khan, who will take part in the Winter Olympics. India has declared diplomatic boycott of the ceremonies as China has made its PLA army man as a torchbearer at the Olympics, who was involved in the clash between Indian and chinese soldiers in the Galwan valley in 2020. In that clash, 20 Indian soldiers died.
Several other countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia and EU have also declared the diplomatic boycott of the games. US said that it was because of China’s “human rights abuses and atrocities in Xinjiang” against the province’s Uyghur Muslim population.
More than 90 countries will participate in the 109 Winter Olympics events, seven more than the last Winter Olympics. Beijing is hosting its first Winter Olympics. It has also hosted the Summer Olympics in 2008.
“The competitive critters featured in today’s Doodle have gathered from all over the world under the winter sky to keep their cool and put their opponents on ice. Who will be pouncing on victory and scurrying home an international legend?,” Google wrote.
“Find out over the next two weeks as the Games have officially begun!” Google wrote further.
