Tropical Storm Lee, currently near hurricane strength, is expected to rapidly intensify into an ‘extremely dangerous major hurricane’ by Saturday, as per the National Hurricane Center’s forecast.
This tropical storm originated approximately 1,300 miles to the east of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday.
This weekend, Lee is projected to track north of Puerto Rico, resulting in elevated surf and rip currents in the Caribbean, though no severe weather is anticipated.

As we move into the following week, Lee is set to veer northward and intensify into a formidable Category 4 hurricane, boasting maximum sustained winds of 150 miles per hour.
Currently, there is no imminent threat to the United States; however, Bermuda should remain vigilant regarding the potential impact of this powerful hurricane.
Most forecast models indicate Lee’s trajectory bringing it in close proximity to Bermuda next week, followed by a northward path that runs parallel to the eastern U.S. coastline.
Subsequently, the East Coast should brace for significantly heightened surf conditions and the presence of perilous rip currents later in the week.
