Solar eclipse happens when the moon passes in between the sun and the earth, it then partially or fully blocks the sunlight from the earth for sometime. This is a partial solar eclipse, so sun will get a shape of crescent. According to NASA, nearly 65 percent of the sun will be covered by the moon during eclipse.

The partial solar eclipse can be seen from the south and south-western parts of South America, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, parts of Antarctica, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia and Peru. This eclipse can not be seen in India.

This celestial event will not be visible in most parts of the world. So, several youtube channels will stream it live from where people can witness the eclipse. It can also be seen live on the NASA’s youtube channel.

Precautions while looking at eclipse

NASA suggested not to see the eclipse with the naked eyes. Use an eclipse glasses or pinhole projector while looking at eclipse.

The next solar eclipse will take place on October 25 while the next lunar eclipse will appear on November 8 this year. This solar eclipse can be seen in India albeit for a very brief period just before sunset.
