Mirabai Chanu created history for India after winning the silver medal in Tokyo olympics 2020. Chanu lifted total 202 kg. weight in the competition.

On saturday, weightlifter of India Mirabai Chanu wins the silver medal for India in Tokyo olympics 2020. She becomes the second woman in India who wins medal in the weightlifting in olympics. Before her, Karnam Malleswari of India has won the bronze medal in 2000 Sydney Olympics games.
Mirabai Chanu created history for India after winning the silver medal in Tokyo olympics 2020. She opened the medal tally for India and now India is on 5th place in the ranking with one silver medal.
Chanu lifted total 202 kg weight in the competition. In the first attempt, she lifted 84 kg weight and improved competition by lifting 87 kg weight in the second attempt. China’s Zhihui Hou increased more competition by lifting 88 kg. weight in her first attempt.
Zhihui Hou won the gold medal in 49 kg category by lifting total 210 kg weight. She also sets a olympic record by lifting 92 kg weight in snatch round. Indonesia’s Windy Cantika Aisah won bronze medal in 49 kg category of Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Mirabai Chanu couldn’t win medal in 2016 Olympics due to poor outing from the game but this time she made India proud by winning silver medal in Olympics. She has also the world record of 119 kg weightlifting in clean and jerk in 2021 World Asian championship.
Chanu is the winner of gold medal in 2017 World Championship and also the gold medallist of 2018 commonwealth games. PM Narendra Modi congratulates her on twitter. He wrote, “Could not have asked for a happier start to @Tokyo2020! India is elated by @mirabai_chanu’s stupendous performance. Congratulations to her for winning the Silver medal in weightlifting. Her success motivates every Indian.”
