BCCI said that in lieu of the good relationship between BCCI and ECB, BCCI offered to ECB a rescheduling of cancelled 5th test match. Both the Boards will work towards finding a window to reschedule this match.

Board said that the health and protection of the players is its first and foremost importance. They can’t compromise with the safety and well-being of the players. BCCI thanked the ECB for co-operation and understanding the situation. It also apologised to the fans for not being able to complete the enthralling series.

After the cancellation of match, Indian players will move into the bio-bubbles as it is the requirement for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Only a few days are left for the IPL. It’s second half is going to start from September 19. This is one of the main reasons for the cancellation of test match.

IPL couldn’t be postponed as ahead of IPL final, there is an ICC T20 World Cup. Therefore, postponing of 5th test match even for one day, would cause problem for these big tournaments.

Now, BCCI will focus on IPL and ICC T20 World Cup. ICC T20 World Cup will begin from October 17 in Oman and UAE.
