Chad Condit, former chief of staff to Republican Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, has filed a lawsuit against her, accusing the senator of sexual harassment and exploitation. The suit, lodged in Sacramento Superior Court, alleges that Alvarado-Gil used Condit as a “sex slave” and caused him physical injuries while coercing him into sexual acts.

Condit, son of a former California Congressman, claims that his troubles began shortly after he joined Alvarado-Gil’s team in 2022 when she ran for Senate as a Democrat. According to the complaint, Alvarado-Gil, who switched to the Republican Party in 2023, began “grooming” him by sharing intimate details of her personal life and inquiring about his own marriage.

By early 2023, the lawsuit states that Alvarado-Gil forced Condit to run personal errands, including caring for her dogs, while making increasingly unwelcome sexual advances. Condit alleges he felt compelled to comply to protect his position, leading to what he describes as a “sex-based quid pro quo relationship” filled with coercion and threats of punishment.

In a particularly harrowing incident, Condit claims he suffered severe back and hip injuries after being forced to perform a sexual act in a cramped vehicle, resulting in herniated discs and a collapsed hip.

Condit’s lawsuit details how, by mid-2023, he began resisting Alvarado-Gil’s advances, only to face professional retaliation. He received a “disciplinary letter” accusing him of inappropriate conduct, which he believes was an attempt to discredit him. In December 2023, Condit was terminated after he continued to reject her demands.

Senator Alvarado-Gil’s attorney has refuted the allegations, calling them baseless and financially motivated, and asserting confidence that the senator will be exonerated of any wrongdoing. The case is expected to unfold further in court.
