On Thursday, Tamil film icon Vijay took a significant step in his political journey by unveiling the flag and symbol for his newly formed political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). The unveiling ceremony was held at the party’s Panaiyur office, where Vijay hoisted the flag and introduced the party’s official anthem.

The flag features a maroon and yellow design with elephants on either side and a central peacock surrounded by stars. This symbolic representation aims to convey strength, pride, and a bright future for Tamil Nadu.

Vijay had previously announced the formation of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam in February, declaring his intention to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Unlike in the recent Lok Sabha elections, his party did not align with any existing political alliances.

At the flag unveiling event, Vijay expressed his pride and commitment to Tamil Nadu’s development, stating, “I know you all are eagerly awaiting our first state conference. Preparations are underway, and I will announce it very soon. Today, I proudly unveiled our party’s flag. We will work together for the progress of Tamil Nadu.” He added, “Tamil Nadu will be better from now on. Victory is sure.”

The flag unveiling is part of a larger plan to officially launch the party with a grand rally in Vikravandi, northern Tamil Nadu, in the last week of September. The party’s registration with the Election Commission is nearing completion and is expected to be finalized soon.
