Paris Olympics 2024: Indian Shooter Ramita Jindal Places 7th in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Final

Ramita Jindal held third place after nine shots but dropped to seventh following a 9.7 on her tenth shot.

Indian shooter Ramita Jindal secured seventh place in the women’s 10m air rifle final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, scoring a total of 145.3 points. Ramita faced a shoot-off with France’s Oceanne Muller for elimination, narrowly losing with a score of 10.5 to Muller’s 10.8.

Initially, Ramita held third place after nine shots but dropped to seventh following a 9.7 on her tenth shot. She recovered with scores of 10.4 and 10.5 to avoid the first elimination, then scored 10.2 twice, tying with Muller before the decisive shoot-off.

Ramita had previously qualified for the finals by securing fifth place in the qualification round with a score of 631.5. A beneficiary of the Khelo India Scholarship and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Ramita comes from Ladwa in the Kurukshetra district and is part of the Jindal family.

She began her shooting career at 13, training at Karan Shooting Academy while attending Aggarsain Public School. Her training intensified over the years with substantial government support, including assistance under TOPS for weapon servicing, inspection, and participation in international competitions like the ISSF World Cup in Cairo and ISAS Dortmund.

Ramita Jindal‘s career has been financially supported with Rs. 12,03,853 under TOPS and Rs. 1,27,25,671 under the Annual Calendar for Training and Competition. She has earned numerous accolades, including a Silver and Bronze at the 2022 Asian Games, multiple medals at the Junior World Championships in Cairo and Lima, and team event medals at the World Cups in Baku and Changwon.

Meanwhile, fellow Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have advanced to the 10m air pistol mixed team final. Manu Bhaker, who secured India’s first medal of the Games on Sunday, and Sarabjot Singh will compete for the bronze medal after achieving a score of 580 in the qualification round.
