Tracy Cortez made weight for her UFC main event in a highly unconventional way.

Faced with shedding about half a pound to reach the 126-pound limit for her flyweight match against Rose Namajunas, Cortez decided to cut off a chunk of her hair.

This tactic worked, as she officially weighed in at exactly 126 pounds on Friday. Cortez then posed for the cameras, holding the clipped hair.

Cortez, 30, with her new shorter hairstyle, is set to face Namajunas in the main event on Saturday night in Denver. Namajunas was initially supposed to fight Maycee Barber, who had to withdraw due to health issues.

“What was it, .5 pounds?” Cortez told ESPN afterward. “I was like, ‘No hesitation. We’ll do whatever it takes. This is a big opportunity.’”

Tracy Cortez boasts an 11-1 record in her MMA career, with 11 consecutive victories. Despite her impressive record, Namajunas (12-6) is the favorite, with betting odds at minus-200.

The UFC returns to Denver for the first time in six years, with the event taking place at Ball Arena, headlined by the bout between Namajunas and Cortez.

Namajunas, a former strawweight champion, aims to climb the contender rankings in the flyweight division. The 32-year-old is coming off a unanimous decision win over Amanda Ribas in March after losing her divisional debut last fall.
