On Friday, Armstrong, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu president, was brutally hacked to death by six unidentified attackers near his home in Chennai’s Perambur area, according to official sources.
Witnesses reported that a group of assailants on motorbikes launched a ferocious knife attack on Armstrong, leading to fatal injuries. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind this heinous act.

Armstrong killed in Chennai
The attack occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sembium police, prompting an extensive manhunt for the suspects. Armstrong was quickly rushed to a private hospital in Chennai, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later moved to Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
At the time of the incident, Armstrong, a former Chennai Corporation councillor, was living in Perambur. He was overseeing the construction of a new residence and had visited the construction site around 7 pm when he encountered the assailants, four of whom were disguised as food delivery drivers.
Law enforcement sources revealed that CCTV footage from the area is being scrutinized to identify and capture the attackers.
In response to the tragedy, BJP Tamil Nadu chief Annamalai condemned the state government, led by MK Stalin’s DMK, for the increasing violence. He expressed his condolences to Armstrong‘s family and supporters and criticized the DMK administration for the rise in violent incidents over the past three years, questioning the Chief Minister’s ability to maintain law and order.

Similarly, the AIADMK criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government for the deteriorating security conditions in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK leader Palaniswami questioned the effectiveness of law enforcement under the DMK regime, especially in light of the death of a prominent political figure, and called for authorities to ensure a peaceful funeral for Armstrong.
BSP chief Mayawati also reacted to the incident, stating that the state government must punish the attackers.
