India vs West Indies 3rd T20I:- India beat West Indies by 17 runs, whitewash the series

India beat West Indies by 17 runs in the 3rd and last T20I match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. With this win, India whitewash the three-match T20I series 3-0. Suryakumar Yadav becomes the player of the match in the 3rd T20I.

India beat West Indies by 17 runs in the 3rd and last T20I match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on sunday. With the help of Suryakumar Yadav’s storming fifty, India made 184/5 in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran hit a half-century in the third consecutive match but just like the last two matches, his fifty couldn’t make the West Indies win.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant had been given bio-bubble break in the third T20I match. So, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer have been given chance in the playing XI. As Rohit Sharma said during the toss that Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan would do opening instead of him. Ruturaj (4) lost his wicket very soon.

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer made a 52 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. Hayden Walsh Jr broke this partnership by dismissing Shreyas Iyer (25 off 16 balls). Then, Roston Chase clean bowled Ishan Kishan (34 off 31) when he was trying to hit a shot.

Captain Rohit Sharma came on the 4th place to bat. India was struggling to reach at 100 runs but Rohit Sharma (7) couldn’t rescue India as Dominic Drakes bowled him.

Venkatesh Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav not only rescued India but took it to over 180 runs. They both made the 91 runs partnership for the 5th wicket. Venkatesh Iyer made 35* runs off 19 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. Suryakumar played a stormy innings. He knocked 65 runs in just 31 balls with the help of a four and 7 sixes. On the last ball, Rovman Powell took his catch off Romario Shepherd.

With the help of their partnership India made 184/5 in 20 overs. From West Indies side, Romario Shepherd, Dominic Drakes, Roston Chase, Jason Holder and Hayden Walsh Jr took 1-1 wicket.

West Indies did not have a good start as Deepak Chahar dismissed Kyle Mayers (6) in the very first over. Then, he also dismissed Shai Hope (8). Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell were making good partnership but Shardul Thakur took the brilliant catch of dangerous Powell on the bowl of Harshal Patel and broke this partnership. Rovman Powell made 25 off 14 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Venkatesh Iyer showed his balling skills as well by taking the precious wickets of Kieron Pollard (5) and Jason Holder (2). Roston Chase (12) was bowled by Harshal Patel on the slow yorker.

Nicholas Pooran hit half-century in the third consecutive match. He knocked 61 off 47 balls. Shardul Thakur dismissed him. Romario Shepherd showed some cameo by making 29 off 21 balls with the help of a four and 3 sixes. Since he was on the crease, Indies were in the game. Harshal Patel dismissed him and the West Indies chances of victory were almost over.

West Indies finished at 167/9 in 20 overs. Harshal Patel took 3 wickets in 4 overs by giving just 22 runs. The debutant Avesh Khan couldn’t take any wicket. He was given chance on the place of Yuzvendra Chahal. Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Venkatesh Iyer took 2 wickets each.
