India beat West Indies by 8 runs in the interesting 2nd T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant hit half-century in the match.

India beat West Indies by 8 runs in the 2nd T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. With this win, India seal the three-match T20I series 2-0. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant hit half-century in this match. Rishabh Pant made unbeatable 52 runs off 28 balls and becomes the player of the match. Although two catches were dropped by India but in the last over, it won the close and interesting match. It is the 100 T20I win for team India.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ishan Kishan (2 off 10 balls) lost its wicket very soon. Kyle Mayers took his catch off Sheldon Cottrell. Then, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made 49 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. Roston Chase of West Indies continued his brilliant bowling in the 2nd T20I. He dismissed Rohit Sharma (19 off 18 balls) by giving catch to Brandon King. Suryakumar Yadav couldn’t continue his 1st T20I performance. Roston Chase took brilliant catch of Yadav on his own bowl.

Virat Kohli hit half-century in this match, which India had been waiting from his bat. He knocked 52 off 41 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. Roston Chase dismissed him too. Kohli had no reply of Roston’s that ball which completely beat him and hit the wickets.

Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer made 76 runs partnership for the 5th wicket. They both helped India in reaching over 180 runs. Pant knocked 52 off 28 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six while Iyer made 33 off 18 balls. Romario Shepherd bowled Iyer in the last over. He bowled such a good yorker that it completely beat Iyer.

Roston Chase picked 3 wickets by giving 25 runs in 4 overs. Sheldon Cottrell and Romario Shepherd took 1 wicket each. With the help of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant’s half-century, India made 186/5 in 20 overs and gave a tough target of 187 runs to the visitors.

West Indies openers Brandon King and Kyle Meyers came on the crease to achieve a big target. The Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal caught Meyers on his own bowl in the 6th over. Then, Ravi Bishnoi continued his brilliant performance in the 2nd T20I as well. He dismissed Brandon King in his first over and gave only one run in that over.

Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell made 100 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Vice captain Pooran made 62 off 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. Ravi Bishnoi had dropped his catch earlier but on the bowl of Bhuvneshwar he took a good catch. Rovman Powell made 68* runs off 36 balls with the help of 4 fours and 5 sixes. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did very good bowling in the 19th over under pressure and gave just 4 runs in that over.

The match turned interesting in the last over when Indies needed 25 runs in the last over. Powell took single on the first ball and Pollard also took single on the second ball and then Rovman Powell hit two consecutive sixes to Harshal Patel but Patel did a great comeback on the 5th ball and gave only a single. Pollard just stopped the 6th ball and took a single.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi picked 1 wicket each. India stopped West Indies at 178/3 in 20 overs. India’s captain Rohit Sharma made hat-trick of three series wins. His captaincy proves good for India so far.
