India deafeated West Indies in the 3rd and final ODI by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad and whitewash the three match ODI series. Prasidh Krishna becomes the player of the series as he bowled well in the 2nd and 3rd ODI.
India vs WI 3rd ODI:- India deafeated West Indies in the 3rd and final ODI by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad on friday february 11. With this win, India whitewash the three-match ODI series 3-0. Shreyas Iyer becomes the player of the match as he made 80 runs in the match. Prasidh Krishna becomes the player of the series as he bowled well in the 2nd and 3rd ODI.
Earlier, skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. In this match, Rohit Sharma opened with Shikhar Dhawan. Both the openers and Virat Kohli couldn’t score well and soon lost wickets.
Then, Shreyas Iyer, playing his first match in the series, came on the crease and hit a brilliant half-century. Rishabh Pant also hit a half-century in the match and made a brilliant partnership of 110 runs with Shreyas Iyer for the 4th wicket. Hayden Walsh Jr, who was playing his first match, broke this partnership. He dismissed both Pant (56 off 54 balls) and Iyer (80 off 111 balls).
Deepak Chahar and Washington Sundar showed cameo with the bat. Chahar scored 38 off 38 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 4 boundaries whereas Sundar made 33 runs off 34 balls with the help of a six and 2 boundaries. They both made the partnership of 53 runs for the 7th wicket.
Jason Holder took their wickets. He also got out Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj. He took 4 wickets for 34 runs in 8 overs. Hayden Walsh Jr. and Alzarri Joseph took 2-2 wickets while Odean Smith and Fabian Allen picked 1-1 wicket.
With the help of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant’s brilliant partnership and Chahar and Sundar’s cameo, India made (265/10) runs in 50 overs.
Then, Nicholas Pooran’s team came on the crease to achieve the target of 266 runs. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Shai Hope very soon. Siraj’s ball touched with the pad of Hope, he appealed to umpire for lbw and umpire gave an out. Hope didn’t take the review as replays later showed the ball was missing the stumps.
Deepak Chahar trapped the Brandon King and Sharmarh Brooks in his outswingers. Prasidh Krishna sustained his last match’s performance and took his first wicket of Darren Bravo. Indies team couldn’t make any big partnership to win the match.
Kuldeep Yadav also did a great comeback. He dismissed Nicholas Pooran (34) and Fabian Allen.
Odean Smith again frustrated India just like the last match. He made 36 runs off 18 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 3 fours. However, he was lucky as his catch was dropped by Suryakumar Yadav on the bowl of Siraj.
Alzarri Joseph (29) and Hayden Walsh Jr. (13) made a 47 run partnership for the 9th wicket. Siraj broke this partnership by dismissing Hayden Walsh. Prasidh Krishna finished off the match as Joseph pulled and top-edge flew to deep mid-wicket. Virat Kohli was there and he took an easy catch of Joseph.
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked 3 wickets each whereas Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Yadav took 2-2 wickets. India’s brilliant bowling finished Indies innings at 169/10 in 37.1 overs.
Now, T20 innings will be played between India and West Indies. First T20 will held on February 16, 2022.
