Mathilde is a troubled and intelligent girl with a cynical view of the world, stemming from a difficult past that includes a suicidal mother and drug-dealing brothers.
Initially, François takes an interest in Mathilde due to her repeated absences and challenging nature, offering her private lessons to help her with her studies. However, a deep and transgressive fascination develops between them, leading to a passionate love affair. As their relationship deepens, Mathilde’s academic performance improves significantly, but her emotional intensity and possessiveness escalate.
The affair throws François’s life into chaos, straining his marriage to Catherine, who soon becomes aware of his infidelity. The film explores the complexities of their forbidden love, the power dynamics at play, and the destructive consequences of their actions.
