Summary

“The Layover” is a raunchy road-trip comedy directed by William H. Macy. The story follows two best friends, Kate (Alexandra Daddario) and Meg (Kate Upton), who are both experiencing stressful times in their lives. To escape, they decide to take a tropical vacation. However, their plane is rerouted to St. Louis due to a hurricane warning, leading to an extended layover.

During the flight and the layover, they both become enamored with a handsome firefighter named Ryan (Matt Barr), who was seated between them on the plane. Their attraction to Ryan quickly spirals into a fierce and often absurd competition for his affections, putting their lifelong friendship to the test with increasingly immature and outrageous tactics.

Bold Scenes

The movie is rated R for “profanity, sexual content, and drugs.” While it’s a comedy, it features some suggestive and raunchy humor. Viewers should expect scenes with adult themes and situations, including the “competition” between the two friends for Ryan’s attention, which can lead to some revealing moments.

One review mentions a diving scene that puts Alexandra Daddario in a bathing suit that could have been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. There are also descriptions of explicit dialogue and some physical comedy involving gross-out humor (like a scene in a very dirty bathroom).
