At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 2, 2025, Beyoncé achieved a historic milestone by winning her first Album of the Year award for her country-inspired album, Cowboy Carter. This victory marks her first in this category, despite four previous nominations.

In addition to Album of the Year, Beyoncé secured the Best Country Album award for Cowboy Carter. She also won Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Miley Cyrus for their collaboration on “II Most Wanted.”

During her acceptance speech, Beyoncé was joined on stage by her daughter, Blue Ivy. She dedicated her Album of the Year win to Linda Martell, the first Black woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, highlighting the significance of her achievement in the country music genre.

This historic win makes Beyoncé the first Black woman to receive a country Grammy in 50 years. In her speech, she encouraged artists to pursue their passions beyond genre constraints, stating, “I think genre is a cold word to keep us in our places as artists.”
