Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 75, underwent successful prostate removal surgery on December 29, 2024, at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center. The procedure addressed complications from a urinary tract infection caused by benign prostate enlargement.

During the surgery, Justice Minister Yariv Levin temporarily assumed the role of acting prime minister.
This health development occurs amid ongoing regional conflicts and Netanyahu‘s ongoing corruption trial, which has been postponed due to his medical condition.
Netanyahu’s recent health issues include a pacemaker implantation in July 2023 following a heart condition and hernia surgery in March 2024. Despite these challenges, he has maintained his leadership role during critical periods for Israel.
