The film, directed by Bilal Lashari, is a remake of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt and has garnered immense commercial and critical success, raking in over Rs 400 crore globally.
This release is significant, given the previous delays and challenges faced due to strained relations between India and Pakistan, which had previously halted the exchange of films between the two countries.
The film was originally scheduled for an Indian release in 2022, but it was postponed due to legal and diplomatic concerns. Now, with its October release date confirmed, Indian fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to experience this epic saga.
The movie, praised for its high production quality, stars Fawad Khan in the titular role of Maula Jatt, alongside Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi. It is a cinematic retelling of the fierce rivalry between Maula Jatt and Noori Nath, characters that became iconic in the original film. Lashari has stated that this version of Maula Jatt transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, making it accessible to a broad audience beyond just Punjabi speakers.
