Aman Sehrawat is the only male wrestler from India to have qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Aman Sehrawat, a rising star in Indian wrestling, hails from Jhajjar, Haryana. At just 21 years old, he has made remarkable progress in the sport, particularly in the 57kg weight class.
His wrestling career is distinguished by significant accomplishments, including a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games and a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Aman Sehrawat’s Early Life and Education
Aman comes from a Jat family of the Sehrawat gotra, originating from Birohar in Jhajjar district, Haryana. His early life was marked by profound personal loss, with his mother passing away due to depression when he was just 10 years old.
A year later, his father also passed away, leaving Aman and his younger sister, Puja, under the care of their elder uncle, Sudhir Sehrawat, and a maternal aunt.
Despite these hardships, Aman’s grandfather, Mangeram Sehrawat, played a pivotal role in his recovery from severe depression. He channeled his energy into wrestling, training under coach Lalit Kumar. His hard work paid off when he won his first National Championship title in 2021, marking the start of his successful competitive journey.

The early loss of his parents profoundly influenced Aman’s personal life, instilling in him a resilience and determination that has fueled his wrestling career. Wrestling has become more than a sport for him; it’s a way to honor his family’s legacy and overcome personal adversities.

Aman Sehrawat’s Wrestling Career
Aman’s career is highlighted by numerous achievements. In addition to his medals at the Asian Games and Asian Wrestling Championships, he clinched gold at the Zagreb Open in January 2024, with a flawless victory over China’s Zou Wanhao, scoring 10-0.
