Sharad Sankla, who became a household name for his portrayal of Abdul in the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has reportedly stepped away from the series. Rumors of his departure began circulating due to his noticeable absence in the recent episodes. Despite the growing speculation, the actor has yet to comment on the matter.

According to a report by OTT Play, Sharad quietly bid farewell to the show in May 2024, though the reasons behind his departure remain unclear. Sharad had been an integral part of the show since its debut 16 years ago, appearing in the very first episode.
In the latest episodes, Abdul’s absence has been subtly acknowledged within the storyline. The character of Madhavi, played by Sonalika Joshi, mentioned that Abdul’s phone has been unreachable, and his store has remained closed since Saturday evening.
This unexpected turn of events has left the residents of Gokuldham Society worried about Abdul’s sudden disappearance. They have sought help from Inspector Chaalu Pandey, but even he is uncertain about Abdul’s return, given his previous encounters with the society members.
As of now, the show’s creators have not addressed the rumors of Sharad Sankla‘s departure.
Interestingly, Sharad’s last post on what is believed to be his Instagram account was a video shared on May 7, where he is seen preparing for a scene on the set of the show. The caption of the post read, “I love the confidence that makeup gives me.”

In a related development, actor Kush Shah, who played the beloved character Goli Hansraj Hathi, also announced his exit from the show in July 2024 after 16 years.
