In her Instagram post, Remini explained, “After much reflection, we’ve decided to file for divorce. This choice, though challenging, comes with a positive outlook as we believe it’s best for both of us.” She added that the couple’s journey has been filled with effort and care, and while they are saddened by the split, they are also proud of how they’ve navigated this transition.
Remini emphasized that despite their separation, their deep friendship remains intact. “We still celebrate holidays, watch TV shows, and gather as a family,” she said. The actress noted that their relationship had evolved, and they found themselves in roles that no longer suited them.
She reflected on their 21-year marriage, saying, “We believe this marriage was a success and will always cherish the beautiful memories, especially raising our wonderful daughter.” Remini also expressed their desire to be open about the split due to their past public appearances on TV. “We want to share this new chapter with everyone to show that changes in relationships aren’t failures, but a part of life,” she added.
The couple married in Las Vegas in 2003, with a Scientologist minister officiating the ceremony. They welcomed their daughter, Sofia, the following year. Pagán also has three sons from a previous relationship and two grandchildren.
Remini and Pagán first met at a Puerto Rican restaurant, a moment Remini described vividly on RuPaul’s talk show in 2019. Although their relationship started with a strong connection, Remini later acknowledged that it faced challenges, particularly in its early days.

The couple’s journey included a significant shared experience: leaving Scientology. After Remini departed from the church in 2013, Pagán followed suit. Remini has previously spoken about the impact of this decision on her family, emphasizing the importance of putting family first.
Following their exit from Scientology, Remini launched and starred in the reality series Leah Remini: It’s All Relative, which aired from 2014 to 2015.
