The British news outlet Tortoise Media broke the story, revealing accusations made by two women against Gaiman, detailed in a four-part podcast series.

The first accuser, a 23-year-old named Scarlett, claims that Gaiman sexually assaulted her in February 2022 at his New Zealand residence, where she worked as a nanny for his young son. Gaiman maintains that the encounter was consensual.

The second woman, referred to as K, alleges that she met Gaiman at a book signing in Sarasota, Florida, in 2003 when she was 18. She claims that despite her request for him not to proceed due to a painful infection, Gaiman assaulted her.

In response to these allegations, Gaiman has publicly refuted any non-consensual sexual activity with either woman. He expressed distress over Scarlett’s accusations and denied any unlawful behavior.

The New Zealand police are currently investigating Scarlett’s report, and Gaiman has offered to cooperate, although the authorities have yet to accept his offer due to their ongoing investigation.
