J. Michael Cline, the founder of the movie ticket company Fandango, died after falling from a luxury hotel in New York City in what appears to be a suicide, authorities reported.

Cline, 64, who resided in Palm Beach, Florida, was discovered “unconscious and unresponsive” on Tuesday morning. New York City police responded to a call shortly after 10 a.m. at the Kimberly Hotel, located at 145 East 50th St. in Manhattan. They found Cline with injuries consistent with a fall from a high place, and he was declared dead at 10:30 a.m.

An ongoing investigation has found no evidence of criminal activity, according to the police.

The medical examiner’s office has not yet released information regarding the exact cause and manner of death.

Cline, a prolific entrepreneur, founded Fandango in 2000 and remained with the company until 2011. Fandango is now owned by NBCUniversal.

His LinkedIn profile details his education at Cornell University and Harvard Business School. In 2010, he established Acumen, a company providing outsourced lab operations for large hospitals, serving as chairman and director until 2017.

In 2007, he founded Accolade, a health services vendor for large employers and hospital systems, where he was founder and chairman until 2022.

Cline was also the managing partner of Accretive, a venture capital firm funding start-up companies. Accretive has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Additionally, Cline served as chairman of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. In a 2020 annual report, he expressed his dedication to wildlife conservation, stating, “The importance of protecting conservation gains and sustaining momentum to protect wildlife and natural habitats cannot be overstated.”

In 1995, Cline married his wife Pamela, as noted in a New York Times wedding announcement. They have six children together, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
