Joe Alwyn mentioned that he and Swift had mutually agreed to keep their relationship private, a stance he maintains even after the release of her album.
In a recent interview with the Sunday Times Style Magazine, Joe Alwyn discussed the end of his relationship with Taylor Swift. Their breakup, which was publicized in April 2023, was followed by Swift’s high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce by September.
Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” appears to be inspired by a WhatsApp group called The Tortured Man Club, which included Alwyn, Paul Mescal, and Andrew Scott. When asked if he had listened to the album, Alwyn sidestepped the question.

“I hope everyone can empathize with the challenges of ending a long, loving relationship of over six and a half years,” Alwyn expressed. “It’s difficult to navigate. What’s unusual in this situation is that, one week later, it’s public, and the outside world gets to weigh in.”
He elaborated: “You have something very real suddenly thrust into an unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it’s dissected and speculated on beyond recognition. There’s always a gap between what is known and what is said. I’ve come to terms with that.”
Joe Alwyn mentioned that he and Swift had mutually agreed to keep their relationship private, a stance he maintains even after the release of her album. Despite speculation that songs like “So Long, London” and “loml” are about him, he chose not to delve further into their breakup or his current dating life: “Given the level of scrutiny about my past relationship, I hope you understand why I wouldn’t want to discuss it now.”
Shifting focus, Alwyn also spoke about his work with director Yorgos Lanthimos on “Kinds of Kindness,” where he portrays a single father trying to rescue his wife (Emma Stone) from a cult. This film is Alwyn’s second collaboration with Lanthimos, following 2018’s “The Favourite.” The cast also includes Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons, and Hunter Schafer.

“Even though Yorgos explores dark themes, he maintains a light atmosphere on set. It’s my second time working with him and Emily,” he said, referring to Stone by her birth name. “I love them both and enjoy working with them, so it felt comfortable.”
