A 2016 surveillance video captures Sean “Diddy” Combs engaging in physical altercation with his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, substantiating allegations from a recently settled federal lawsuit filed by Ventura in November.
The video, compiled from various camera angles on March 5, 2016, appears to show the rapper and producer at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, involved in an incident described in Ventura’s complaint.

In the footage, Ventura exits a hotel room and heads towards the elevators. Combs, holding a towel around his waist, runs after her, grabs her by the neck, and throws her to the floor. While keeping his towel closed, he then kicks her. As Ventura remains on the ground, Combs retrieves a purse and suitcase near the elevators and kicks her again. He then drags Ventura briefly by her sweatshirt before walking away.
Ventura is seen slowly standing up, gathering items from the floor, and reaching for a phone near the elevators. Combs returns, and a mirror across from the camera shows him appearing to shove Ventura. Moments later, he throws an object at her and walks away before turning towards her again as an elevator door opens and someone steps out.
Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, stated, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
The lawsuit outlines that Combs and Ventura, known for songs like “Me & U,” were in an on-and-off relationship from 2007 to 2018. The complaint cites an altercation “around March 2016” where Combs allegedly became intoxicated, punched Ventura, and followed her into the hotel hallway, throwing glass vases at her as she ran to the elevator.

Ventura reportedly took a cab to her apartment but returned to the hotel, fearing Combs’ anger. Hotel security, having seen the footage, urged her to leave. The complaint also alleges that Combs paid the hotel $50,000 for the security footage and details other abuses, including a 2018 rape and forced sexual acts with other men.
Combs’ attorney, Ben Brafman, denied the allegations and emphasized that the decision to settle the lawsuit was not an admission of guilt, calling the allegations “offensive and outrageous.”
The lawsuit was settled the following day, with details of the settlement undisclosed.
Since November, Combs has faced five other civil lawsuits alleging various forms of sexual misconduct and illegal activity, which he denies. These cases are still active. In March, authorities searched Combs’ homes in California and Florida as part of a federal investigation into human trafficking, stemming from similar allegations in the civil lawsuits.

Combs’ attorney, Aaron Dyer, criticized the searches as a “gross overuse of military-level force” and reiterated that Combs is innocent and will continue to fight the accusations.
