After Weinstein’s return to New York City following the appellate court’s decision to overturn his 2020 rape conviction, Aidala revealed that Weinstein required extensive medical attention upon his arrival.
Describing Weinstein’s condition as needing “a lot of help, physically,” Aidala highlighted the severity of Weinstein’s health problems, including cardiac issues, diabetes, sleep apnea, and eye ailments.
The spokesperson for the New York City Department of Correction, Frank Dwyer, confirmed Weinstein’s custody at Bellevue, shedding light on the legal complexities that have kept Weinstein detained despite the appellate court’s ruling. While Weinstein’s conviction was overturned due to procedural errors during his trial, he remains incarcerated due to a separate conviction in Los Angeles in 2022.
Aidala expressed frustration over the treatment Weinstein received during his transfer, citing the lack of basic necessities such as water, food, and restroom breaks, especially concerning for a 72-year-old man with health concerns.
