Trump had previously asserted Presidential Immunity in the 2020 case, but this verdict quashes that notion. It marks another legal setback for the Republican leader, who is entangled in multiple legal battles across various states.
This isn’t the first time courts have rebuffed Trump’s immunity claims, underscoring that he can indeed be prosecuted for his actions during his presidency, including those leading up to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
