In a tongue-in-cheek manner, Schumer acknowledged feedback on her face, attributing changes to ongoing medical and hormonal issues linked to endometriosis—a disease where uterine lining tissue is found outside the uterus.
Having battled endometriosis publicly, Schumer shared insights into the disease, emphasizing its impact on pelvic health, menstrual cycles, and fertility. She underwent surgery in 2021, removing her uterus and appendix due to the condition. With one in ten women affected, endometriosis often goes undiagnosed for years, making awareness crucial.
Schumer used her platform to encourage women to educate themselves about endometriosis, shedding light on the challenges of diagnosis, which can take up to 10 years. The actress highlighted the inconspicuous nature of early lesions, underscoring the need for broader understanding.
In addition to raising awareness about endometriosis, Schumer passionately advocated for self-love and body acceptance. She acknowledged the fluctuating nature of confidence and self-perception, expressing that every woman deserves to embrace her physical appearance without explanation.
