Spider-Man, step aside! There’s a fresh crew of web-weavers in town.

Sony unveils the debut trailer for “Madame Web,” featuring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in a suspenseful thriller set within Sony’s Marvel character universe.

Johnson takes on the role of Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic with possible clairvoyant abilities, diving into a world of interconnected spiders and future visions. Teaming up with a trio of young women, including Sweeney’s Julia Carpenter, who eventually becomes Spider-Woman in the comics, they unravel secrets to survive a perilous present.

The star-studded cast also boasts Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet.

Following the triumph of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” Sony capitalizes on the fascination with wall-crawlers and web-slingers. “Madame Web” adds another thrilling chapter to Sony’s Marvel universe, joining hits like “Venom” (2018), “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), and “Morbius” (2022).

On Sony’s slate, a third “Venom” film is scheduled for Nov. 8, 2024, along with “Kraven the Hunter,” starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, hitting theaters on Aug. 30, 2024. Notably, “Madame Web” marks Sony’s first female-led comic book adaptation.

SJ Clarkson, known for helming Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders,” takes the directorial reins for “Madame Web,” co-writing the screenplay with Claire Parker. Swing into theaters on Feb. 14, 2024, to catch this female-led superhero adaptation!
