The win solidified a commanding return to the pinnacle of the sport, occurring mere weeks after Biles concluded a two-year hiatus aimed at prioritizing her mental well-being.
Simone Biles showcased yet another remarkable routine on Sunday, securing an unprecedented eighth all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. This triumph occurred ten years after her initial national championship win. The event took place in San Jose, California, underscoring her triumphant return to the pinnacle of the sport just a few weeks after she ended her two-year hiatus to prioritize her mental well-being.
Following her awe-inspiring floor exercise, for which she achieved a score of 15.400, Biles was met with a standing ovation. Notably, her performance on the Cheng vault, earning her 14.850, was the highest of the competition, as was her score of 14.8 on the beam.
With a cumulative score of 118.450, Biles outshone her competitors, securing a commanding victory over the second-place finisher, Shilese Jones, by a substantial margin of 3.9 points.
Continuing her remarkable comeback in the world of gymnastics, Biles extended her journey at the event. This comes on the heels of her triumphant win at the U.S. Classic just two weeks ago, marking her return after a two-year break that followed her withdrawal from several events during the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Biles left the gymnastics community astonished when she decided not to participate in the team finals in Tokyo. She clarified that her withdrawal was due to the emotional toll of the Tokyo Games, rather than a physical injury.
In a poignant moment, she delivered tearful testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, courageously recounting her personal experience of being sexually abused by Larry Nassar, a doctor associated with USA Gymnastics. She didn’t mince words, asserting that both USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee had failed in their responsibilities.
The national championships offer gymnasts the opportunity to secure a spot on the national team and earn qualification for the upcoming world championships in Antwerp, Belgium, slated for the end of the following month.

Nearly a decade ago, Biles soared to the pinnacle of gymnastics, capturing her inaugural world title at the 2013 championships, an event that also unfolded in Antwerp.
In a remarkable feat, the 26-year-old clinched victory on Sunday, securing her place in history as the eldest woman to claim a national title since USA Gymnastics took charge of the competition back in 1963. This achievement also surpassed the record set almost 90 years ago by Alfred Jochim, who secured seven titles during the era when the Amateur Athletics Union managed the tournament.
With an astounding track record, Simone Biles boasts an astonishing 25 medals from world championships, an impressive collection that includes 18 golds. This tally stands as the highest among all gymnasts, regardless of gender, throughout history.
While her triumphs are undeniable, Biles has remained tight-lipped about her intentions for the upcoming Paris Olympics in the following year.
