Arleen Sorkin, renowned as the original voice behind the iconic villain Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series, has passed away at the age of 67.
Arleen Sorkin, famed for her role as the voice of Harley Quinn throughout the animated DC Universe, passed away at the age of 67. The news was conveyed by DC co-head James Gunn in an Instagram post honoring Sorkin’s memory.
James Gunn shared a photo of Sorkin and wrote, “Rest in Peace, Arleen Sorkin, the incredibly talented original voice of Harley Quinn, who helped to create the character so many of us love. Love to her family and friends.”
Commencing her television journey in 1982, Sorkin initially graced the screen as a background performer on Saturday Night Live. By 1987, she secured a spot in the sitcom Duet’s ensemble, portraying the character Geneva. Her subsequent credits encompassed roles in Dream On, Open House and Perry Mason: The Case of the Killer Kiss.

Mark Hamill mourned the death of Arleen Sorkin
Mark Hamill also expressed his condolences. “Devastated to learn we’ve lost the brilliant Arleen Sorkin. Not just a wonderful talent, but a truly wonderful person. I’m grateful not only to have worked with her, but to have been her friend. Sending my heartfelt condolences to her family & loved ones,” Hamill tweeted.
Starting in 1992, Sorkin embarked on her Harley Quinn voice acting journey within Batman: The Animated Series. She continued to breathe life into the character across various shows, including Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Gotham Girls, and Static Shock.

Beyond television, Sorkin’s iconic Harley Quinn voice extended to DC video games like DC Universe Online, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and DC Universe Online: The Last Laugh.
Additionally, Sorkin graced the screen as Calliope Jones Bradford in the NBC daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives.
Surviving her are her spouse, fellow actor Christopher Lloyd, along with their two sons.
