Ambedkar Jayanti 2023: The President of India Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 132nd birth anniversary.
Ambedkar Jayanti 2023: India celebrates the 132nd birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar who is also considered as the ‘Father of Indian Constitution.’ He headed the committee which drafted the Constitution of India. He was the the first law minister of Independent India.

The President of India Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 132nd birth anniversary.
President Murmu paid floral tributes to Babasaheb Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at Parliament House Lawns, New Delhi.
She extend her heartiest greetings to all fellow citizens. “I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the architect of our Constitution, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar,” President wrote.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar also paid floral tributes to Dr. BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at Parliament House.
He wrote in a tweet, “Humble tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. He was a towering intellectual, legal stalwart, social reformer & true nationalist. Babasaheb was an upholder of the Rule of Law, a relentless advocate for justice and a tireless champion of equal rights for all”
“Babasaheb’s vision and ideals are ever relevant and inspiration for India’s vibrant democracy. #AmbedkarJayanti,” he wrote further.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video on twitter and wrote in hindi, “Hundreds of salutes to Pujya Babasaheb, who dedicated his life for the empowerment of the deprived and exploited sections of the society, on his birth anniversary. Jai Bheem!”

Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 in a poor family. He struggled for equality throughout his life. Hence, his birth anniversary is also celebrated as ‘Equality Day’ in India.
Being a low caste, Dr. Ambedkar had to face untouchability and oppression in the society. Then, he thought of taking a stand against this oppression. He worked hard for the upliftment of dalits and socially backward class.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar completed his Master of Arts and PhD in economics from Columbia University, New York and became the only dalit to do this.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti is a public holiday in more than 25 states and union territories of India.
A jurist and an economist, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was posthumously conferred the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour of India, in 1990.
