Holi Bhai Dooj should be observed when Dwitiya tithi prevails. Depending on Holika Dahan Day, it might fall either next day or on second day of Rangwali Holi.

Holi Bhai Dooj has a story behind its celebration which is associated with Goddess Yamuna and his brother Lord Yama, the children of Lord Sung and Sangya. Yamuna often invited brother to visit her house but Yama was always occupied with his work. So, he wouldn’t be able to visit his sister’s house.
One day, Yama surprised Yamuna by visiting her house. Yamuna got delighted and applied tilak on her brother’s forehead. She also prepared various delicacies for her brother. Impressed by his sister’s dedication and affection, Yama asked her to make a wish. Yamuna asked him to visit her house every year. Since then, Holi Bhai Dooj has become a festival of Hindus.
Holi Bhai Dooj 2022:- Significance
Bhai Dooj celebrates the bond and affection between brothers and sisters. It symbolises the love of brothers and sisters for each other. Sisters pray for the well-being of their brothers by performing aarti and applying teeka or tilak on their brothers forehead.
