Bhagwant Mann set to be Punjab’s next Chief minister, know everything about him

Bhagwant Mann set to be Punjab’s next Chief Minister as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the 92 seats from total of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly Elections 2022. Mann announced that he will take an oath as the chief minister at Khatkar Kalan, the village of Bhagat singh.

Comedian turned politician Bhagwant Mann set to be Punjab’s next Chief Minister as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the 92 seats from total of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly Elections 2022. Bhagwant Mann, 48, was chosen as the Chief Ministerial face of AAP through the public poll on January 18, 2022. About 93% people chose him as the CM face of AAP in Punjab.

Aam Aadmi Party has won the Punjab assembly elections with a huge margin and there is no other party even close to it. Bhagwant Mann won from Dhuri constituency with a big margin of 50,000 votes. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal congratulates Mann on this big win. Now, Mann is all set to succeed Charanjit Singh Channi.

Early life of Bhagwant Mann

Bhagwant Mann born on 17 October, 1973 in a Jat family in Satoj, Sangrur, Punjab. He studied in Shaheed Udham Singh Government College and he also used to take parts in the comedy skits and competitions during his college days.

In 1973, he appeared in his first punjabi film ‘Kachheri’. He also acted in several comedy shows such as ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ and ‘Jugnu Hazir Hai’. Mann was a contestant in the Great Indian Laughter Challenge and Navjot Singh Sidhu judged him in that show who has lost from Amritsar East constituency in these assembly elections.

Bhagwant Mann acted as Jugnu in the punjabi comedy show ‘Jugnu Hazir Hai’ which was telecasted on MH One. He gained popularity after showing his comedy skills in these shows.

Political career of Bhagwant Mann

In 2011, he joined the People’s Party of Punjab but he lost from Lehra constituency in 2012. Then in 2014, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party and won from the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. Since then he is the Member of Parliament.

The opposition accused him several times due to his drinking habits but In 2019 Mann relinquished alcohol and swore never to drink again.

Personal life of Bhagwant Mann

Mann is an ardent follower of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and he always wears a yellow turban. After winning the Assembly elections 2022, he addressed the public and announced will take an oath as the chief minister at Khatkar Kalan, the village of Bhagat singh.

Bhagwant Mann parted from his wife Inderpreet Kaur in 2015. He has 16 years old son and 20 years old daughter who live in the US.
