India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I:- India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets, seal the series

India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets (17 balls left) in the 2nd T20I match and seal the three-match T20I series 2-0. Shreyas Iyer knocked unbeaten 74 off 44 balls and became the player of the match. Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja also showed cameo in the match.

India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets (17 balls left) in the 2nd T20I match on saturday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Dharamsala. With this win, India seal the three-match T20I series 2-0 and take an unassailable lead in the series.

Shreyas Iyer hit half-century in the second consecutive match. He knocked unbeaten 74 off 44 balls and helped India in achieving a big target of 184 runs against Sri Lanka. Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja also showed cameos.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka made 67 runs partnership for the 1st wicket. The vice captain Gunathilaka (38 off 29 balls) hit a six, four and a six of the first three balls of 9th over off Ravindra Jadeja. On the fourth ball, he again tried to hit a six but this time Venkatesh Iyer caught him on the long-off.

Charith Asalanka was trapped by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 10th over. It was lbw and the umpire raise his finger within a second. However, Asalanka took the review but it was a waste of the review as the ball was hitting the wickets directly. Kamil Mishara was caught by Shreyas Iyer off Harshal Patel. Sri Lanka lost three wickets in three consecutive overs.

Dinesh Chandimal became the victim of Jasprit Bumrah. Then, captain Danush Shanaka and Nissanka made the 58 runs partnership. In the last overs, both the players hit great shots.

Nissanka knocked 75 off 53 with 11 fours. Captain Shanaka smashed unbeatable 47 off 19 balls with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes. Nissanka and Shanaka helped Sri Lanka to made a good score of 183/5 in 20 overs.

India’s all bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja took 1-1 wicket.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan came on the crease to chase a big target but Dushmantha Chameera clean bowled Rohit Sharma (1 off 2 balls) on the last ball of the very first over. Lahiru Kumara’s fast bowling made Kishan uncomfortable when his ball hit Kishan’s helmet.

Ishan Kishan (16 off 15 balls) gave an easy catch to Dasun Shanaka off Lahiru Kumara. Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson made 84 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Samson did a slow start but later on he hit a big sixes and showed a cameo. He smashed 39 off 25 balls with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes.

In the 13th over off Lahiru Kumara, he hit four on the first ball, six on the second, six on the third ball and one more six on the fifth ball. On the last ball of the over, Binura Fernando caught him at the slip.

Shreyas Iyer hit half-century in the second consecutive match. He knocked unbeaten 74 off 44 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. He also made a 50 runs partnership with Ravindra Jadeja who was also in form. They both made a big target small for India and achieved the target 17 balls left.

Jadeja was out of the playing XI in the previous series’ due to his injury but after recovering from injury in this match, he showed why he is an inseparable part of team India. He smashed 45 off 18 deliveries with the help of 7 fours and a six.

Lahiru Kumara picked two wickets while Dushmantha Chameera took 1 wicket for Sri Lanka. In this match, Sri Lanka’s batting was very good but team lacked at its bowling side.

India finished at 186/3 in 17.1 overs. With this win, India clinch the series and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
