With the help of Dean Elgar’s 96* runs, South Africa beat India by 7 wickets at Wanderers stadium. With this win, Proteas levels the three match test series 1-1 as India has already won the 1st test in Centurion.

The host South Africa beat India by 7 wickets in the second test match at Wanderers stadium. Captain Dean Elgar played significant role in this win. He made unbeatable 96* runs in the second innings and South Africa achieved the target of 240 runs on the 4th day. With this win, Proteas levels the three match test series 1-1.
The two sessions of the second test match were cancelled due to rain and bad weather. That’s why match was started late instead of the scheduled time on the 4th day. Dean Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen did good batting to led South Africa to win. Dean Elgar became the player of the match.
Earlier, India’s Captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first. Only Captain Rahul could score well in the first innings. He made 50 runs and Ravichandran Ashwin (46) also helped India in making 202 runs in the first innings. South Africa’s bowlers bowled well in the first innings. Marco Jansen took 4 wickets while Duanne Olivier and kagiso Rabada both took 3-3 wickets.
Keegan Peterson (62) and Temba Bavuma (51) helped South Africa in making 229 runs and in taking lead of 27 runs in the first innings. India’s Shardul Thakur took historic 7 wickets in this innings which restricted South Africa to 229. Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah took 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
In the second innings, India’s Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane’s bats spoke which had been silent for a lot of time. They both made half-centuries and a good partnership for the third wicket. Pujara scored 53 while Rahane made 58 runs. Hanuma Vihari also scored 40. With their help, India made 266 runs in the second innings and gave the target of 240 runs to South Africa.
The pacers of South Africa showed their skills in the second innings too. Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada took 3-3 wickets while Duanne Olivier took 1 wicket.
South Africa achieved the target easily on the fourth day to win the match. Dean Elgar (96*), Aiden Markram (31), Keegan Peterson (28), Rassie van der Dussen (40) and Temba Bavuma (23*) scored well in the second innings. India on the other hand, could take only 3 wickets in the second innings. Shami, Shardul and Ashwin took 1-1 wicket.

Now, three match test series stands equal 1-1 between both the teams. The series decider will be played in Cape town from January 11, 2022. India has not won any test series in South Africa so far. Therefore, final test match will be exciting one.
India’s test captain Virat Kohli suffered back injury just before the start of the second test match and in his absence, KL Rahul was made the captain of India. Now, it has come to know that Virat Kohli is practising for the third test. Probably he will be available in the final test match.
