South Africa beat India by 7 wickets in the 2nd ODI at Boland park and clinches the 3-match ODI series. South Africa’s Quinton de Kock made 78 runs off 66 balls with the strike rate of 118.18 and became player of the match.

South Africa’s openers Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock made a crucial partnership of 132 runs for the 1st wicket. Then, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen added 74 runs for the 4th wicket which guided South Africa to win. With the help of these partnerships, hosts easily chase the 288 runs.
Earlier, India’s captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat. KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan made the partnership of 63 runs for the 1st wicket. Captain KL Rahul hit half-century in this match. He scored 55 off 79. Dhawan (29) couldn’t sustain the partnership and Aiden Markram sent him pavilion. Virat Kohli couldn’t even open an account. On the bowl of Keshav Maharaj, he gave easy catch to Bavuma and went to pavilion at duck.
KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant made a good partnership of 115 runs. Initially, Pant was looking a little bit nervous but after playing some balls, he gained his confidence and knocked 85 off 71 balls with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes. At last, Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin also made a partnership of 48 runs but it was too late. Thakur again showed his skills with the bat. He made 40 runs while Ashwin made 25 runs. Thakur hit his maiden half-century in the 1st ODI.
For South Africa, Tabraiz Shamsi took 2 wickets while Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo, Sisanda Magala and Keshav Maharaj picked 1-1 wicket.
India finished its innings at 287/6 in 50 overs and gave a tricky target of 288 runs. Although, it was a good target but it became so small target in front of South African batters that they could achieve it with 11 balls to spare.
The batters of Proteas looked dominant to the visitors bowlers. All the five players of South Africa who batted, made a good score. None of them scored less than 30. Janneman Malan scored 91 off 108 balls and Quinton de Kock made 78 runs off 66 balls with the strike rate of 118.18. De Kock became player of this match. Shardul Thakur, somehow, managed to take the wicket of Quinton de Kock and broke this partnership. Janneman Malan was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah but it was too late. Then, Captain Temba Bavuma made 35 runs and Yuzvendra Chahal took his catch on his own bowl.
Aiden Markram (37) and Rassie Van Der Dussen (37) made good partnership for the 4th wicket and led South Africa to win. Rassie was player of the match in the 1st ODI as he hit century in that match. South Africa (288/3) achieved target in 48.1 overs (11 balls left) and won by 7 wickets.
With this win, South Africa has clinched the three-match ODI series 2-0 as it has already won the 1st ODI by 31 runs. Before the ODI series, hosts have also won the three-match Test series 2-1. Now, the inconsequential third and last ODI between India and South Africa will be played on sunday, January 21 at Cape town.
